NeugenAI Residency Program

Our AI Residency Program is a comprehensive 12 months journey that combines structured coursework, practical training, and real-world project experience. The program is divided into two phases to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. The first phase is a 6 months free coursework focused on machine learning fundamentals, deep neural networks and AI programming. The second phase is a 6 month paid research internship on cutting-edge AI projects. While the course lectures in the first phase will be public and open to all, the internships will be limited and offered to students who are selected at the start of the program and also to students who perform exceptionally well during the course.

Why Join the NeugenAI Residency Program?

The AI residency program is ideal for highly motivated undergraduate students pursuing an Engineering degree, currently in their 3rd or 4th year. The students are expected to have a strong programming background, mathematical aptitude and a passion for AI/ML technologies. The AI residency program offers the following opportunities to the selected students:

  • Free access to high quality courses ranging from machine learning fundamentals to the latest advances in AI taught by leading machine learning researchers. The course lectures will be accompanied by practical assignments and project work.
  • Research internship opportunity on cutting-edge AI projects sponsored by partner firms — Blue Water
  • Opportunity to publish papers on the research conducted during the internship in top AI conferences and journals
  • Free access to GPU compute resources for projects and course assignments
  • Recommendation letters from accomplished researchers upon successful completion of the courses and projects for academic pursuits like Masters/PhD
  • Potential full-time job opportunity upon completion of the internship, if we find the right product-market fit.

Phase 1: Coursework (Months 1-6)

In the first six months, residents will embark on a coursework module focused on AI and its various aspects. This module aims to provide a strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals, deep neural networks, and practical skills required for deploying neural networks as web applications. The course lectures will be accompanied by practical assignments and project work. During this phase, the selected students will have access to cloud compute resources, and experienced mentors who will guide them through the learning process.

The course lectures will be offered in a hybrid mode (some online and some in-person) but all lectures will be recorded and available publicly. The selected residents are encouraged to attend the lectures from the physical lab space in Dehradun to ensure a more collaborative learning environment.

The coursework phase comprises the following main courses:

Course Work

Phase 2: Project-Based Research Internship (Months 7-12)

After completing the coursework module, the residents will transition into the project-based internship phase of the program. During this period, residents will work on exciting and challenging projects related to synthetic media generation and detection, as well as large language model adaptation for industry-specific tasks. Students will work in small groups of 3 to 5 people on one of the projects which will be decided based on the student’s interest and skill set. We strongly encourage open science and publishing the research findings while working on the the research projects.

Application and Selection Procedure

To apply for the NeugenAI Residency Program, please submit the questionnaire linked below. We encourage individuals with a background in computer science, machine learning, or related fields to apply. Applicants will be shortlisted based on their academic achievements, technical skills, and a passion for AI. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed before making the selection decisions for the internship phase. Note that the candidacy for the internship is contingent on the successful completion of the course phase. Also, candidates who are not selected for the internship before the program starts, can still get the internship opportunity if they perform exceptionally well during the course.
